The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantoness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ and make not provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:12-14
Our life about walking in the Spirit is all about change. It is a change of heart and mind and thus a change of affection and direction. We begin to love the things that God loves and hate those things that he hates. Our emotions are set ablaze with heavenly affections. Our eyes have been open to an invisible God that is revealed to our inner man through the eyes of faith. Like a child in a candy store we have found a delight that stays our attention. I’ve wondered often how those who call them selves disciples of Christ have so little emotion when it comes expressing their love for Jesus Christ. I’m not their judge but wonder why they are so dry and unfeeling. Why can’t they rejoice with joy unspeakable full of glory? 1 Pet.1:8 Why can’t they shed a tear for those around them that are lost? Secondly, a thorough searching of our own heart and actions begins to take place. This inner examination is part of our walking by the Spirit and growing in the grace and knowledge of God. 2 Pet.1:2 We begin to better understand what it is to put off the old man that is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and to put on the new man, which after God is CREATED in righteousness. We better understand what it is to cloth ourselves in HIS righteousness. So as sons of Abraham, we are now walking looking for the city who’s builder and maker is God. Our faith walk has begun as we take each step and he has promised to lead us and be with us unto the end. What a journey! Pick up your step and king is bidding us to the banquet. Let nothing hider you in your pursuit of HIM. For we are more than conquers through him that loved us. Romans 8:37 Will we run together brethren?
